The Foundation Series by Shadow Systems was designed for shooters who aren’t fussy about aesthetics and want only the essential features. Built on the same frame as every other XR920 model, the XR920 Foundation touts sleek ergonomics, real-world shootability, and bet-your-life reliability for significantly less than you’d expect. The XR920 Foundation is built around Shadow Systems’ own Crossover Frame, designed to provide dramatically reduced recoil and muzzle flip. The frame makes use of new manufacturing techniques to wrap more texture around the curves of the grip—so it sticks to your hand for enhanced control. And like the more expensive XR920s, the XR920 Foundation also works with aftermarket Glock 19, 19x and 45 holsters. Compatible with Glock 17 magazines. The slide has pocket-cut serrations to reduce weight and enhance controllability, and features the same optics mounting technology (more on that below) you’ll find on more expensive Shadow Systems models. The mounting system allows direct mounting of many popular red dots without using a plate. The XR920 Foundation features a match-grade 4″ barrel with smooth finish and conventional rifling, so it’s compatible with lead bullets. The drop-safe polymer trigger features a 4.5-5 lb. trigger pull and crisp, tactile reset. It’s not as feature-loaded as other Shadow Systems pistols, but it blows away every other handgun in its price range. This model comes with a Holosun HS407C X2 Open Reflex Sight, so it’s ready to go right out of the box.
