Tip-up beretta 21a release lever is on the left side of the frame behind the trigger. Pressing this lever forward tips/hinges the barrel upwards allowing you to see if there is a round in the chamber or to easily load a cartridge. Once you have inserted a round into the chamber and pressed the barrel back down just put a full mag into the pistol and you are fully loaded. To unload just press the mag release button (on the left side grip panel) and the mag will drop out – then tip the barrel up to remove the round from the chamber. Tip-up barrel also makes it very easy to clean this handgun.

Manual thumb safety (not decocker) on the left side of the frame. Pistol can be carried with the hammer quarter cocked or fully cocked with the safety on.
Double action/single action trigger. Can be fired double action (starting with the hammer in the forward position) with a longer, heavier pull or single action by cocking the hammer first for a shorter, lighter weight pull. Subsequent shots will be in single action mode because the slide cycles leaving the hammer cocked.
Note there is no extractor on this pistol (there is an ejector) due to the tip-up barrel feature.
There is no slide stop lever on this pistol. The slide does not lock to the rear because you can easily tip the barrel up to show/see that it is unloaded.
Flat dark earth polymer grip panels with checkered pattern and the Beretta logo. Can be replaced.
This model has a Cerakoted FDE steel slide and barrel. The alloy frame is FDE anodized to match the color and finish of the upper components. The other metal parts (trigger, hammer, trigger guard, safety, magazine, etc.) are black finished.
